Jason R. Margolis, Esq.
What Makes Me Uniquely Qualified To Help Your Case
An honors graduate of the University of Southern California (2001), California State University at Northridge, Professional Educator Credential (2004), and William S. Boyd School of Law, at University of Nevada-Las Vegas (2011), Jason R. Margolis has practiced private criminal defense for more than three years in Clark County, Nevada.
He has defended hundreds of clients charged with misdemeanor criminal offenses ranging from DUI to Domestic Violence, as well as dozens of clients charged with more serious felony crimes including bank fraud, distribution of controlled substances, kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of child pornography, and attempted murder. He has earned a reputation as a shrewd and capable advocate for his clients, with a particular penchant for drafting powerful and persuasive motions designed to limit the liability and potential exposure of his clients in adverse criminal proceedings.
Today, Mr. Margolis is licensed to practice law only in Nevada, but presently has plans to seek admission to the California and Colorado Bars. As an emerging trial attorney, Mr. Margolis’s cases during his first three years of practice have ranged from DUIs and drug charges to complex, document-intensive mortgage fraud and securities fraud cases.
Prior to serving as a private defense counsel, Mr. Margolis was a judicial extern to the Honorable James Mahan, United States District Court Judge, District of Nevada; a student attorney who represented a dozen clients with the Juvenile Justice Clinic during his final year at UNLV; an effective and efficient law clerk with the private insurance defense firm Barron & Pruitt, LLP and the private civil litigation firm Charles Rainey & Associates; a research assistant to distinguished Contracts Professor Jeffrey Stempel and clerk with the Weiner Law Library at UNLV, and a clerk for the Children’s Attorney Project with the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada.
For 7 years prior to embarking on a law career, Mr. Margolis taught United States History, Government, and Economics to high school students in Southern California, while also coaching high school baseball. A successful teacher, coach, writer, and attorney, Mr. Margolis has always idealized the practice of law, exalted the importance of justice in our society and communities, and sought to champion the causes of the oppressed and maligned wherever possible. Be it through a speech designed to motivate or a pleading designed to persuade, Mr. Margolis is as much of an impassioned and determined advocate for his clients today as he was formerly for his students and ballplayers.
